Trends under de facto Taliban Rule

Since the Taliban takeover, reports suggest an increase in the number of girls being forced into early marriages.[2][9] Marital disputes and separation were instead handled through a combination of Taliban religious decrees, interpretations of Hanafi jurisprudence (from Shariah), and informal or highly discretionary court practices controlled by Taliban judges.[5] Furthermore, it specifies that if a girl's husband refuses a divorce, the husband's word is valid because there are no witnesses for the girl.[7]
